BERGO has extensive experience in supporting technical assessments of human factors aspects in COMAH safety reports for multi-national Oil & Gas organisations across Europe.

We have delivered projects and training covering areas such as human reliability assessment, control room design and layout, and safety culture assessment.

Human Factors Risk Assessment

Managing the risks of hazards initiated from human error is an essential part of a COMAH Safety report.

We are able to analyse safety-critical activities and failure modes, and determine the most effective risk control measures for preventing human error.

In the event of an incident or accident, we are also able to investigate the root causes and human factors aspects involved.

Job Design

Many aspects of ‘job design’ influence human performance and human error propensity, such as the quality of training, required skills, environmental parameters, process design, workload and fatigue.

Using a range of human factors techniques, we are able to analyse job factors in order to identify improvements to efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and safety.

Our recent work has involved analysing control room tasks, emergency response scenarios and safety-critical communications during handover.

Safety Culture Assessment

We have a wide range of experience in measuring the safety culture in organisations across different industries including Oil & Gas and healthcare.

We design and carry out safety culture questionnaire surveys, interviews and focus groups to measure the strong and weak aspects that characterise safety.
